Every now and then the things I lean on lose their meaning.

For some reason unbeknownst to me, there is atop my dryer:
A lid to a Mason jar
An old battery
A bag of shells
A rubber band
A shoe box of CDs
Varied and mateless socks
A bunch of other stuff

No matter how strong my resolve, I cannot seem to keep any flat surface uncovered. Most include dust. All include spare change and abandoned books. Or maybe that's the other way around.

Perhaps, I just had my hands full. Perhaps, someone else did. It could be a resting place was in order. It could be that, once we rose, we gathered only the items of import at the time but left the rest behind.

Looking back, most weren't important, except while resting.

I really should get that dryer situation squared away.
